The A1F makes a great alternative to the ever-popular Xiaomi Essentials scooter. In our opinion the wider deck makes for a more comfortable ride, even with that solid puncture-proof rear tyre. Formerly known as InMotion, the company has years of experience building electric transporters and you can expect a reliable scooter even at this low price. It is rated for riders over 14 years of age, between 4ft 3in and 6ft 6in tall, with a maximum weight of 90kg.

Practical

The scooter folds down in seconds and at just 14kg, can be comfortably carried by the main tube. The folding mechanism is a reliable quick-release design with a safety catch ensuring the scooter cannot be accidentally folded down in use. Despite the wide deck, the A1F folds down to just 103 x 41 x 45 cm, compact enough to fit in the boot of small cars or under the bench seats on a train.

Powerful

A rear-mounted 350w motor propels the scooter up to its (limited) maximum speed of 15.5mph, even with the maximum load of a 90kg passenger aboard. With a lighter rider, the scooter can cope with 18% inclines and can be ridden up-to 30km on a single charge. That 280Wh battery takes around 4 and a half hours to charge using the supplied mains adapter. The LCD display features a 5-bar battery capacity indicator, but utilising the InMotion app (connected via bluetooth) offers a more accurate insight into potential range plus the ability to modify scooter settings such as mph/kmh readout.

Reliable

Opting for an air-filled front tyre dampens vibrations, offering a comfortable ride at the handlebars without complex suspension. Meanwhile the rear, traditionally more puncture prone, is fitted with a maintenance-free solid rubber tyre. With its IP54 rating, the A1F can deal with water splashes; this, added to the front and rear lights make it suitable for year-round use.
